The Public Art for Neighborhoods (PAFN) Community Connection Grants are designed to support the work of artists leading in their own communities, partnering with their neighborhoods and with neighborhood-based organizations.

This project was funded by the generous support of the Arts Council of Indianapolis, the City of Indianapolis and Downtown Indy. You can find the Harlin Brothers fence banner located at 327 Illinois Street. The banner exists where the original Harlin Brothers music store and studio used to be.

Project Team

  • Beth Harlin

    Downtown Indy, Inc.,
    Volunteer Project Lead

Beth Harlin is a community advocate and music lover. Blessed with appreciation of all music genres, she continues to visualize herself as an artist of some kind….a true wannabe!

Beth would like to thank, in particular, her friends, Neely Ashmun and Brook Sefton, for guidance in memorializing the Harlin Brothers and their historic contribution to Indy’s music scene.

Also, the pleasure of working with Downtown Indy, Inc., the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the City of Indianapolis‘ Regional Center Planning Department is all hers. Finally, the collaborative work of two talented, female artists, Tasha Beckwith and Andrea Haydon made the vision a reality—a dream come true!

Tasha Beckwith is an Indianapolis-based visual artist. She studied painting and drawing at the Herron School of Art & Design, IUPUI, but honed her skills in graphic design and digital art on her own. Recent work includes billboards encouraging participation in the 2020 census, participation in an artistic campaign encouraging people to #MaskUpIndy, and the neighborhood history mural inside the brand-new Martindale-Brightwood branch of the Indianapolis Public Library.
